Svbony SV503 Telescope ED 102mm F7 Doublet Refractor for Astronomy - F9359D

I've finally had some good viewing conditions with this refractor, and I am very impressed with it. Its a quality telescope with an excellent textural paint finish, a smooth focuser and a very effective dew shield.
I weighed the OTA (including mount rings and a metal rdf base), on two digital scales several times and consider its weight is closer to 4 kg, which is significantly less than that the 5.5 kg given by Svbony. This is a great bonus for portability.
When objects are perfectly in focus, CA is negligible, and stars are pin-point sharp. With very good seeing I have been able to use magnifications up to 238 X for globular clusters, despite the nearby city light glow. Good clarity views are regularly achievable with magnifications of 120 - 170 X, where they would not be with my 4" F6 chromatic refractor. My eyepieces are of reasonable quality, but they are not premium ones.
In summary, I could not be happier with this telescope. It really is a great choice as an affordable, quality, portable refractor for visual use.

I have had the 102 ED out under the stars 3 times so far and I can say I am shocked at how good the scope is. There is no CA visually on The Moon, Jupiter or Saturn. Video shot through the scope with my cell phone does show CA. I bought this scope for visual and to replace my 120 mm Achromat. It's an amazing upgrade with its excellent 2 spd, rotatable focuser and sharp views above (223x) its theoretical maximum (200x). The sliding dew shield and 3 point end ring on the focuser show attention to detail. So far, the scope is the best built refractor I have owned, even matching my Explore 127ED for build quality. I can't wait to look at wide field star clusters and nebulae with the 102 ED.
