PegasusFocusCubehas been developed to meet all of these requirements.
Designed in high quality with modern electronics, FocusCube can provide digital precise focus control from a PC. Device includes a stepper motor for absolute position focusing. Electronics and stepper motor are enclosed in a compact sized box.Do not be fooled by its size!This device can easilylift more than 6kg(212 ounces) of imaging equipment when the telescope points to the zenith!
This stepper motor is a high resolution geared stepper motor (Step Angle 7.5, Deg 120, Gear Ration 1:120). Its gearbox has very low backlash and high torque suitable to focus in micron scale!You only need this device to focus! Attach theFocusCubeto your refractor / reflector / SCT telescope, plug the power, USB cable, download ASCOM drivers or standalone software and you are ready to go!
IMPORTANT NOTE FocusCube is a standalone device and includes controller functionality. No physical hand controller is included or required. DO NOT pair it with the Dual Motor Focus Controller or any other controller in the market. DO NOT connect this RJ45 port to the Ultimate Powerbox RJ45 Stepper Output The RJ45 port at the back is only for the hand controller or the included temperature sensor.
High torque & resolution stepper motor
Embedded unipolar stepper motor has a powerful and very low backlash gearbox. Motor Step Angle is 7.5 deg but the 1:120 reduction gearbox turns the reduction rate to 0.06255 deg / step. As firmware implements half step drive, the motor can execute twice the steps per cycle. This means11510 steps per cycle! Bottom line: You can focus in microns, easily and with great accuracy.
Motor can lift up to 6Kg of equipment (212 ounces) of imaging equipment when the telescope points to the zenith!

SCT Bracket:SCT Bracket fits to Celestron C Series, Celestron Edge and Celestron RASA telescopes.
Universal bracket: which fits to most focusers in the market
We have successfully installed our motor to: Skywatcher Esprit Series (80 ED, 100ED, 120ED, 150ED).
Locate the set screw pointed with red arrow at below photo. Use a hex key tool to remove this set screw.
Remove the coarse knob
Use the supplied 5 to 6mm motor coupler and attach it to the focuser’s shaft. Pass through your hex key tool into the small hole (pointed with red arow) and securely tighten the set screw of the motor coupler.
Turn using your hand the focuser knob to reveal the 2nd set screw of the coupler. Make sure to tighten both set screws very well.
Remove the two outer bolts using the hex key tool (check below photo). You do not need these screws anymore. Keep them in a safe place.
Please note that the thumb screw of the finder holder collides with the motor L shape bracket so there are two options to avoid this. a) Rotate the finder holder 180 degrees, as displayed below.
b) Detach and place the finder holder on the opposite side where there is a hidden screw thread under the label (as shown in the image below)
Place the motor on the bracket and align the motor shaft to the “already placed” motor coupler. Secure the motor with the bracket by tightening all 4 bolts.
Be sure to have the set screws of the motor coupler on top. This is required to allow you to have access to them by using the hex key tool. Do not tighten the coupler set screws of the motor side yet!
Use the longer supplied screws (M4x30mm) and spacers and use them to attach the L bracket on the focuser. Place these screws into the 3rd slot from the left of the bracket (check the photo below)
Do not fully tighten them yet!
Push the motor close to the telescope (as displayed below).
We have installed the motor to all Starlight Feathertouch Focuser Series (from 2” to 3.5”). Installation is very easy and the supplied bolts and spacers ensures that motor is securely attached on the focuser

Stellarvue 2″ focusers has a nice flat surface underneath. It is very easy to place the L shape bracket by removing the brake thumbscrew and use that thread to grab the bracket. One screw /washer is enough to hold the bracket in place. Motor has a powerful gearbox which acts as a brake so you will never need to engage this brake thumbscrew.
Below photos display how you can attach the motor to a Takahashi Focuser.
As the Takahashi Focuser has a flat surface it is very easy to use the long screws (supplied in the package) and replace two of the the stock Takahashi screws with these two in order to grab the motor onto the focuser.

An external digital temperature sensor input is located near the motor connector. A digital probe of one meter (3 feet) length is supplied. The probe can be placed near the focuser so the exact temperature of the focuser / environment can be seen through the supplied software or ASCOM driver(probe is always included)
Expansion Port / Manual Focus (optional accessory)
FocusCube includes an expansion RJ45 port at the back of the enclosure. This port provides input for the temperature sensor. An optionalhand controllerfor manual focus control can be acquired for those who might want to add this functionality.
The controller is fully compatible with latest ASCOM 6.4
The controller can be operated by the standalone software. (Only available for Windows)
