Ultima Tripod

For the price of this tripod, it is very underrated. I have a Manfrotto tripod that came with my DSLR Nikon, but I wanted to see what the Ultima tripod could do since I have the Ultima 100 scope - this tripod does not disappoint.

As mentioned above, for the price, you get a very sturdy piece of equipment. The legs are thick with adaptable suppression pads at the base; there's a counterbalance hook for heavier scopes and equipment you may be attaching to the mount; a bubble level that is super convenient when on smoother surfaces; and a crank to adjust the height of the lens when mounted. This tripod has some features you don't always see on models that can be three times as expensive. For those reasons, it is very underrated.

The maneuverability of all handles and adjustment knobs is quite smooth. Much smoother than my Manfrotto tripod, which almost feels like most of the time you can't attain that sweet spot of movement when trying to slightly shift for a desired view. This Ultima tripod holds up in a superior way.

I am unsure of how the finish and material of this tripod will hold up in less desirable weather. Based on the type of material and the number of parts, it could be prone to water damage in misty or rainy conditions. For that reason, I cannot give it a perfect review just yet. It's a bit bulkier compared to some other tripods that are on the market, which is not really an issue considering you want something to hold up when transporting and mounting heavier, high-powered scopes. The case fits the tripod nicely and has a decent strap for slinging over your shoulder when trekking.

To date, every bit of Celestron gear I have purchased has been very pleasing, and this tripod is no exception. I love the look, the functionality, and the overall build. This item was on backorder but Telescopes Canada was very active and quick to respond to my inquiries and also provided me with updates frequently. If you're thinking about purchasing one, I wouldn't wait!

The price, but with my lense, not very stable.

The Ultima tripod is an excellent choice for those seeking a lightweight yet stable platform for a spotting scope, binocular or camera. With three leg sections and an adjustable center column, the tripod can be set in multiple configurations to get the exact height or stance needed for your terrain and conditions. Use the panning handle and tension knob to scan across the horizon in smooth motions and follow your subject as it moves. The Ultima is the perfect tripod for any outdoor excursion from bird watching to stargazing and everything in between.

Quick-Release Mounting Plate

Attach a wide range of optical and photographic equipment to your Ultima tripod in seconds with the quick-release mounting plate. This broad, square platform with protective padding is ideal for attaching binocular adapters, spotting scope mounting feet, camera gear, and more.

To up your viewing game, the platform also tilts up to 90° with a lock knob to secure it in place at any angle.  For peace of mind, the quick-release plate has a safety mechanism that prevents it from sliding completely out of the pan head without pushing the release button.

Telescoping Center Column
The center column of the Ultima tripod can be extended to raise the tripod head when additional height is needed. To adjust the center column, twist the lock-knob and move the center column to the desired height. The maximum height when the tripod is fully extended is just under 67.7.

At the bottom of the center column, there is a retractable balance hook. This simple device can make all the difference in the stability of your tripod, especially on windy days. Just hang something heavy from the hook like a backpack and you'll be amazed at the difference. When the hook is not needed, it retracts up into the center column to stay neatly out of the way.

Protective Carrying Case
Take your tripod anywhere in its soft woven case with comfortable shoulder strap. When not in use, the case is the perfect place to store your tripod.
