1. Eligibility

Telescopes Canada offers free standard shipping on qualifying orders of $500 or more (before taxes and fees) to Canadian addresses.
Free shipping is applied automatically at checkout when all eligibility conditions below are met. No coupon code is required.

2. Eligibility Requirements

  • Order subtotal of $500 or more (before taxes)
  • Shipping destination within Canada (domestic orders only)
  • Items in the order are eligible for free shipping (see exclusions below)

3. Products Excluded from Free Shipping

Certain products cannot be included in the free shipping program due to their size, weight, handling requirements, or low margin. Eligible products clearly marked on their product pages.  Products without the Free Shipping emblem are not eligible.

Exclusions include, but are not limited to:

  • Large telescopes, optical tubes, large mounts and other products that require oversized or freight-class shipping
  • Heavy or bulky packages where courier surcharges apply
  • Multi-box products where combined dimensional weight results in courier fees that exceed normal thresholds
  • Products where the shipping cost would unreasonably exceed the standard rate due to other shipping factors
  • If your order contains a mix of eligible and excluded products, free shipping will apply only to the eligible items. The excluded items will be quoted at their standard shipping rate.

4. Remote and Northern Locations

Free shipping covers standard domestic Canadian delivery. However, certain postal codes in northern, remote, or rural areas attract mandatory courier surcharges that fall outside standard rate calculations. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Yukon (YT), Northwest Territories (NT), and Nunavut (NU)
  • Remote rural postal codes in any province designated as extended delivery areas by UPS, FedEx, or Canada Post
  •  Certain locations on Vancouver Island, Haida Gwaii, and other coastal or island communities

Important — Remote Location Surcharges
If your order qualifies for free shipping but your delivery address falls within a courier-designated remote zone, we will contact you before shipping to advise of any additional surcharge. In most cases we will cover a portion of the cost and ask you to cover the remainder. We will never ship without your approval if an additional charge applies.

5. Courier Selection

Telescopes Canada selects the courier and service level for free shipping orders at our discretion. We choose the most appropriate courier based on package size, weight, and destination. Our primary carriers are UPS and FedEx for larger items, and Canada Post for smaller packages and Post Office Boxes.
If you have a courier preference, please let us know at the time of ordering. We will accommodate requests where possible, but if your preferred courier rate exceeds our standard rate for that shipment, the difference may be charged to you if you wish to proceed with this carrier.

6. Signature on Delivery

All shipments from Telescopes Canada valued over $1,000 require a signature on delivery. These packages will not be left unattended at the door. This policy protects you against loss or theft and is required for all orders, including free shipping orders.  Packages valued at less than $1,000 can optionally have a delivery signature added when checking out.
If you will not be available to sign, please contact us to arrange an alternate delivery option or designate a pickup location, or ask us to remove the delivery signature option.  If a delivery signature is removed from an over valued over $1,000, the customer implicitly agrees to take responsibility for missing packages which the courier claims have been delivered.

7. Standard Shipping Rates 

For orders under $500, or for orders containing excluded products, shipping is charged at our cost. Rates are calculated at checkout based on the package dimensions, weight, and your delivery address.
Rates are determined by the couriers using dimensional weight (the greater of actual weight and volume-based weight), which reflects how couriers price large or bulky items. A small product in a large box may cost more to ship than its physical weight suggests. We do our best to keep shipping costs as low as possible.

9. International Shipping

We currently ship to the United States and most international destinations. International orders do not qualify for free shipping. Shipping costs for international orders are calculated at checkout, along with any duties, tariffs and other fees through the Zonos service.

Important — Import Duties and Taxes
All import duties, customs fees, brokerage charges, and taxes levied by the destination country for international shipments are included and itemized in our shipping rates and will be collected at checkout.  Zonos guarantees this amount, and will pay any difference to your local customs office if it is determined that an additional amount is owing.

10. Delivery Times

In-Stock Orders
Orders placed for in-stock items are typically processed and handed to the courier the same business day if placed before 2:00 PM ET on a regular business day. Orders placed after 2:00 PM ET, on weekends, or on holidays will be processed the next business day.

Transit times are estimates provided by the courier as best effort and are not guaranteed. Delays due to weather, courier capacity, or customs (international) are outside our control.

11. Backordered or Out-of-Stock Items

If one or more items in your order are on backorder, your entire order will be held and shipped together once all items are available. You will receive an automated backorder notification email identifying which items are affected.
Typical restock times when an item is on backorder with our suppliers are 7 to 14 business days, though this varies by product and supplier. Please contact us if you would like to be updated with a more precise arrival date for specific products.

12. Split Shipments

If you would prefer to receive your in-stock items sooner, we can ship them ahead of your backordered items. Please be aware that splitting your order into multiple shipments will incur an additional shipping charge for the second parcel.
