Svbony SV48P 90mm F5.5 Refractor Telescope - F9341A

This is an outstanding instrument. It looks good, it's got heft, and is solidly built. The dual-speed focuser works perfectly and was a revelation to me as I've never used one. Some have reported problems with the focuser, but I had no problems with mine and no special adjustments were required.

It's a short focus refractor, which is a design prone to chromatic aberration (CA) on bright objects, so I bought it knowing it is best suited for wide field viewing and not so much for planets and the Moon,

I just had it out for its "first light" last night. I spent time with the Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, the Pleiades, the Hyades, and the Alpha Persei cluster. CA was there for the Moon but more or less controlled, not evident at all on Saturn, but quite evident on Jupiter where surface features could not be seen. This was expected. Where it *is* expected to perform well it truly shines - all but the brightest stars are sharp pinpoints of light and open clusters are spectacular. Loved the view of the Pleiades though this 'scope. I live in a city but under dark skies this telescope will excel when viewing extended objects.

This telescope provides excellent value - probably the best deal around at the price I paid.

Telescopes Canada were easy to deal with and shipping was next day to my location. So no complaints there.
