SWIR Sensitivity Range
The QHY990 camera comprises scientific short-wavelength infrared Sony InGaAs sensors, achieving a quantum efficiency of up to 77% at 1200nm. This sensors covers a wide wavelength range of 0.4μm to 1.7μm and offers high sensitivity. Utilizing Cu-Cu interconnect technology, the sensors exhibit very low fixed-pattern noise and a minimal defect pixel ratio.
For purposes of scientific observation and imaging, SWIR sensors can detect wavelengths that ordinarily wouldn't be seen in standard sensors, thus enabling more data from cosmic locations that emit these wavelength types such as distance galaxies and looking through cosmic dust.
AIR Cooling and Filter Holder
Because of the nature of SWIR InGaAs sensors have a higher than average dark current than regular sensors, it is pertinent to have adequate cooling. In the case of the QHY990, air cooling can bring temperature down to -35°C below ambient which is sufficient to reduce dark current.
The QHY990 camera comes with a 25mm filter holder to install a SWIR filter with a 17.5mm C-mount backfocus.
