It is estimated to be about 45,000 light years across and 11.4 million light years away from Earth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis image was taken with the new Optolong Filter User L-Quad Enhance Filter. This filter is excellent. The first thing you notice and really stands out after you open up the package is the build quality of the filter, it is second to none. You can see that the manufacturing and QC process has been to the highest standard.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBut as you can see in the image it's the results that truly matters and I have found that this filter is capable of doing what it states, providing excellent image quality in light polluted areas.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eProcessing the image was easy too. There are no halos around bright stars thus far. These clouds of gas are part of a huge complex of emission nebulae lying about 1,600 light years away in northern Cygnus. With an apparent magnitude (brightness) of 4, in theory this object is visible to the naked eye, even though its light is very spread out. I have seen it with my naked eye and with low power binoculars in dark skies north of where I live. It looks like a faintly hazy, irregular patch of grey.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI have previously imaged this region in a wide field and at higher resolution. For example, you can find images of the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/astrodoc.ca\/southern-ngc7000-the-cygnus-wall\/\"\u003eCygnus Wall \u003c\/a\u003e(the “Central America” region) and \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/astrodoc.ca\/ic5070-and-ic5067-the-pelican-nebula\/\"\u003ethe Pelican\u003c\/a\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAll but one of my prior images has been in natural broadband colour, dominated by red emissions of hydrogen. For this image I used two Optolong dual-narrowband filters designed for colour cameras. The Optolong L-eXtreme passes hydrogen and oxygen emissions; the brand-new L-Synergy filter passes sulphur and oxygen emissions. I combined the data from the two filters assigning sulphur to red, hydrogen to green, and oxygen to blue, making the traditional Hubble Palette. As you can see from the image, the filters worked great. It will be available for purchase soon. This is the first narrowband image made with the 70mm f\/7 Sky-Watcher Esprit EDX refractor. Sky-Watcher hopes to have them available to buy by the end of 2025. So I thought, ‘There won't be all that much signal; to take a decent photo, I'll have to integrate a lot,’ and that's why I took 200 5-minute shots.\u003cbr\u003eOnce I'd processed the photo, I found it came out of the WBPP \u003cu\u003ewithout gradients or halos\u003c\/u\u003e, but above all, bi-color, meaning full of S2 and lots and lots of O3, and I find this wonderful.
